This year I had an awesome birthday thanks to my good friend Chris. He’s living in California and I went out there to visit him for the weekend. When I got to his house around 5 pm we hung out for a little bit then went out to get some food.

We walked around around the beach towns for about a mile until we reached “Chronic Tacos.” It was kind of like a Chipotle style kitchen, but the food was much more authentic than what you get there these days.

After our meal we went out to a pub and both had a drink. They had my favorite… Dog Fish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA… on tap! I couldn’t refuse. After that we drove for a little bit and went down to the beach and looked at the moon over the water.

The next day we went down to Hunington beach to have breakfast on the pier at Ruby’s. It was a great time and I got a lot of photos and videos that I’ll upload soon. The meal was great and the beach was even better! I was so excited to see so many people on the beach in the middle of the winter. The weather was perfect!

I jumped in the freezing ocean, but it was a lot of fun and very refreshing. Relaxing on the beach in the sun is one of my favorite things to do. I could be in the sun all day.

Then, to my surprise, Chris was able to get us into Disney Land and California Adventures for FREE! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity! I drove us there, and despite the fact we left almost an hour early and it was only 20 minutes away, we were cutting it close on time and made it there on time to meet his friend and get our tickets.

I’ve been to Disney Land and California Adventure before when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago. It was fun to be turning 24 and going back in time to be a kid again. The waits were all long, but it was nothing compared to the excitement and thrill of the rides.

That was certainly a birthday to remember. I’m happy I broke away from the everyday grind and did something fun for a change. Now I’m looking for places to move in California to really give my life the change it needs.
