Woke up early this morning, around 5:20 a.m. and the sun was rising. I was tired enough to crawl back into bed and sleep for another hour or so, but when I looked at the colors of the sunrise I immediately jumped on my bike and headed out to snap some pictures.
At first, I went west, in towards the neighborhood. I got to an open field and started taking pictures through the houses to get an image of the sunrise over the mountain. After a few shots I was ready to call it quits and started riding my bike back home.
Realizing I could use the exercise, I rode my bike past my house and East on McKellips until I reached the desert nearby MCC Red Mountain. That’s when it hit me: of course sunrise photos are better in nature! So this is where I should be taking my sunrise photos from now on – not in the neighborhoods.
This photograph is a composite of two photos, one at normal exposure and the other under exposed. Fortunately, even without a tripod I was able to stay relatively still enough in order to make this photo possible. Looking at it now I realize it’s a bit dark, but I’m still learning composite photography so I don’t think it’s too bad.
Do you have a better photo of this morning’s sunrise? Didn’t think so. 😉
